Internal Wall Insulation
A discreet way to insulate your home — from the inside out
Insulation where you see the difference — and feel it
What is internal wall insulation?
Internal wall insulation (IWI) involves fitting insulation to the inside of your home’s external walls. It's ideal for solid block or hollow block homes where external wall insulation isn’t possible — like mid-terrace houses or protected buildings. The system boosts thermal performance while keeping your external finish untouched.
How it works
- Insulated panels or lining systems are installed on interior walls
- The insulation is finished with plasterboard or skimmed and painted
- We adjust sockets, skirting, and window reveals to suit
- The result is a warmer, drier home — with better BER and lower bills
Internal insulation is installed room by room and typically takes just a few days.
-
Suitable where exterior is restricted
Ideal for homes where you can’t change the outside finish or facade
-
SEAI Grant Supported
Internal wall insulation is a recognised measure under grant schemes for solid wall homes
-
Minimal exterior disruption
Work happens indoors — exterior facade remains untouched
Types of internal insulation systems
Different systems for different walls
- Direct board fix (dry-lining) — Insulated boards fixed to existing walls and finished with plaster or skim
- Stud frame with insulation — A new internal stud wall is built with insulation installed between and plasterboard finish
- Thin-profile liners — Space-saving insulated panels ideal for smaller rooms or hallways
We assess your walls, layout and insulation goals to recommend the right system during your survey.
What customers say

Where we work
We offer internal wall insulation across all 32 counties in Ireland — from apartments and terraces to period homes and rural bungalows. Our teams work quickly and cleanly with minimum disruption.
Why choose internal over external?
Internal wall insulation is the preferred option when external access is restricted — or when the exterior can’t be altered. It’s perfect for heritage buildings, mid-terrace homes, and one-room upgrades. We’ll advise what works best during your free survey.

Quick answers
Is internal insulation grant-supported?
Yes — SEAI provides grants for internal wall insulation in homes with solid or hollow block walls. We’ll confirm eligibility during your survey.
Will it reduce my room size?
Yes, slightly — typically 5–10cm depending on the system. In most homes, the energy savings far outweigh the small loss of floor space.
Is it messy or disruptive?
There is some disruption — skirting, sockets and fixtures are temporarily removed. Our crews keep the area tidy and most rooms are finished in 1–2 days.
Can you insulate one room only?
Yes — we often insulate cold bedrooms or living rooms as standalone upgrades. You can phase the work room by room if needed.
How long does it take?
Most jobs take 1–5 days depending on the number of rooms. We’ll give you a full timeline in your quote.
