Start with your home’s insulation

The quickest way to make your home easier to heat

Most Irish homes lose a large share of their heat through poorly insulated attics and walls. Improving your insulation is usually the fastest,
most cost-effective way to feel a difference in comfort and reduce your heating bills.

Premier Insulations specialises in home insulation. We assess your attic, walls and floors, explain what is happening in plain language,
and recommend the upgrades that will give you the best improvement for your budget.

Where your home is losing heat

During your free home survey we look at the main areas where heat is escaping and recommend the right insulation upgrades for your property.
Typical solutions include:

We will confirm which options suit your home best during your survey and provide a clear, itemised quotation.

external wall insulation
  • Warmer, more even temperatures

Fewer cold rooms and less variation from one end of the house to the other.

  • Lower heating bills

Your boiler or heat pump doesn’t have to work as hard to keep your home comfortable.

  • A quieter, more solid-feeling home

Insulation can also help reduce outside noise.

Is your home suitable for insulation upgrades?

Most Irish homes can be improved significantly

We work on bungalows, semi-detached homes, terraced houses, apartments and one-off rural homes. Signs your insulation needs attention include:

  • Rooms that are hard to heat or cool quickly once the heating goes off.
  • High heating bills compared to similar homes.
  • Cold internal walls, floors or ceilings to the touch.
  • Condensation or mould on external walls or around windows.

If you are unsure what your home needs, a simple survey and, where appropriate, a
Home Energy Assessment & BER
will make the picture clear.

What customers say

“After the attic and cavity walls were insulated, the house holds the heat much better. The heating is on for fewer hours and the bedrooms are far more comfortable.”

– Homeowner, 3-bed semi-detached, Co. Mayo

“We noticed the difference straight away. The downstairs rooms used to feel cold in the evenings. Now the temperature is much more even and the boiler runs less.”

– Homeowner, bungalow, Co. Kerry

Typical home insulation upgrade paths

Every home is different, but many projects follow one of these patterns:

  • Step-by-step — start with attic and cavity wall insulation, then add internal or external wall insulation later if needed.
  • Whole-home fabric upgrade — attic, walls and floors insulated together as part of a full retrofit.
  • Re-insulation — removing old or poorly installed insulation and replacing it with modern systems.

We will talk you through the options, including what can be done now and what might be planned for a later phase.

Insulation and other home upgrades

Insulation works best when combined with the right heating and controls. Once your home is properly insulated, heat pumps, efficient boilers,
smart controls and solar PV can all perform more effectively.

Home insulation – quick answers

Where should I start with insulating my home?

For most homes, attic insulation and cavity wall insulation are the most cost-effective first steps.
They tackle the biggest sources of heat loss and are relatively quick to install.
During your survey we will confirm what makes most sense for your property.

Will there be much disruption during the work?

Attic and cavity wall insulation are usually completed in a day with minimal disruption.
External or internal wall insulation can take longer and may involve some external or internal finishing works,
but we explain everything in advance so you can plan around it.

Do I need to move out while the insulation is being done?

In most cases you can stay in your home while the work is carried out.
We agree access, move or protect furniture where necessary, and keep work areas as tidy as possible.
If any room needs to be cleared for internal wall insulation, we will flag this during the survey.

How long does home insulation last?

Quality insulation systems, installed correctly, are designed to last for decades.
We use certified products and provide written guarantees for materials and workmanship.

Can I get SEAI grants for home insulation?

Yes, many attic, cavity wall, internal wall and external wall insulation upgrades qualify for SEAI grants,
subject to your home and the measures you choose. We will help you understand the likely grant amounts and next steps.
