External Wall Insulation
Wrap your home in warmth, cut heat loss and qualify for SEAI grants
Insulation on the outside. Warmth on the inside.
What is external wall insulation?
External Wall Insulation (EWI) is a wrap-around insulation system for homes with solid block or hollow block walls. It involves fixing rigid insulation boards to the exterior of your home, then covering them with a reinforced render. This protects against heat loss, improves comfort and qualifies for SEAI grants of up to €8,000.
How it works
- Rigid insulation boards are fixed to your outer walls
- A mesh-reinforced basecoat and weatherproof render is applied
- The system improves your BER and cuts heating bills
- It also refreshes your home's exterior finish in the process
We’ll confirm the correct board type and thickness for your home during your free survey.

Types of external wall insulation
We install SEAI-compliant systems suited to your home
- EPS Board + Render – Cost-effective and widely used in Irish homes
- Mineral Wool Board – Higher fire resistance and breathability for multi-units or urban areas
- Phenolic or High-Performance Board – Thinner profile with better U-values in tight spaces
We’ll recommend the right system based on your wall type, insulation goals and SEAI grant requirements.

Quick answers
Can I get a grant for external wall insulation?
Yes — up to €8,000 is available for detached homes, with lower amounts for smaller properties. You must use an SEAI-registered contractor like us.
How long does the installation take?
Most homes take 5–7 days depending on size and complexity. We’ll confirm the schedule during your survey.
Can you insulate one wall only?
Yes — we can insulate individual elevations (e.g. north-facing wall) if full wrap isn't needed. Partial grant support may apply.
Is external wall insulation suitable for all homes?
It works best on solid block, hollow block or cavity-extracted walls. We’ll assess suitability during your survey.
What does the finish look like?
We apply a coloured, weatherproof render — modern, clean, and long-lasting. It improves the look and value of your home.
