Restore circulation & radiator heat

Why systems need flushing

Over time central heating systems build up black magnetite sludge that blocks pipework and radiators. You’ll see cold spots, slow warm-up and noisy pumps. A professional power flush clears sludge and air, improves circulation and protects your boiler.

We recommend flushing when radiators are cold at the bottom, after major works, or alongside boiler servicing and controls upgrades.

What a professional power flush includes

  • Pre-checks, water quality test and system survey
  • Machine connection with magnetic filtration
  • Circulation with specialist chemicals to lift sludge
  • Agitation of radiators and key pipe runs
  • Full system rinse to neutral pH
  • Inhibitor added to protect against future corrosion
  • Re-pressurise, bleed and balance radiators
  • Results explained and a clear handover report

  • Magnetic filtration

Captures magnetite sludge during the clean for a thorough result.

  • Protect with inhibitor

Fresh inhibitor added after the rinse to slow future corrosion.

  • Balanced system

Radiators balanced and a clear handover so heat is even throughout.

Signs you need a flush

Common symptoms

  • Cold spots on radiators (hot top, cold bottom)
  • Radiators slow to heat or rooms never reach set temperature
  • Black or dirty water when bleeding radiators
  • Noisy pump or boiler; frequent venting needed

What to expect on the day

  • Typical duration: 3–6 hours depending on size and condition
  • We’ll need access to all radiators, water and drainage
  • Clean working: floor protection and magnetic capture of sludge
  • System balanced and left heating evenly

What customers say

“Radiators were cold at the bottom and the house took ages to heat. After the flush they’re hot right across and the boiler is quieter.”

— Emer H., Ballincollig, Co. Cork

“Great job. Clean setup, magnetic filter caught loads of sludge and they balanced the rads before leaving. Heating evenly now.”

— James O., Lucan, Co. Dublin

Nationwide coverage & fast booking

We power flush systems in every county and schedule visits around your home or business. Most jobs complete in a single day with immediate improvements.

  • All major boilers and radiator types
  • Homeowners, landlords and light commercial
  • Clear pricing and documentation

Good to know

  • We’ll confirm system type and access in advance
  • Old or seized valves may need replacement (quoted if required)
  • We recommend annual boiler servicing after a flush

Aftercare & prevention

To keep the system clean after a flush, we can fit an inline magnetic filter, dose corrosion inhibitor, and include the system in your annual boiler service. Correct radiator balancing, working TRVs and sensible schedules via heating controls prevent cold spots from returning and keep flow temperatures lower for efficiency. We’ll also leave you with simple checks to do during the year.

Quick answers

Will a power flush fix every heating issue?

It resolves sludge-related circulation problems. Faulty pumps, valves or controls are separate issues — we’ll advise if we find anything.

What’s the difference between a chemical flush and a power flush?

Chemical only relies on system flow. A power flush uses a dedicated pump, chemicals and magnetic filtration for a deeper clean.

Is inhibitor included?

Yes — we add corrosion inhibitor after the final rinse.

Do radiators need to be removed?

No — the machine connects into the system, and we agitate radiators in place.
