Every energy upgrade starts with understanding your home

What is a BER?

A BER (Building Energy Rating) shows how energy-efficient your home is — from A1 (best) to G (worst). It’s based on insulation, heating, ventilation, and other energy-related features. SEAI requires a BER to approve grants, and it’s the first step in planning any whole-home retrofit.

What’s included in a Home Energy Assessment?

  • Full assessment of insulation, walls, attic and windows
  • Heating system inspection — boiler, controls, radiators
  • Ventilation and airtightness review
  • BER rating before and after upgrades (if needed)
  • Upgrade recommendations with cost and grant guidance

We use this to create a clear, step-by-step plan — from attic insulation to heat pump readiness.

  • Grant-Required

BER is essential for SEAI grants and One Stop Shop applications

  • Upgrade Guidance

We show you what matters most — and what qualifies for funding

  • Certified Assessors

Why your BER matters

Your energy rating affects more than your bills

  • Qualifies your home for SEAI grants
  • Required for selling or renting property
  • Helps you plan the most cost-effective upgrades
  • Can impact the resale value of your home

Most homes built before 2006 have poor BERs — and major potential for improvement.

What customers say

“We had no idea our BER was so low. Premier explained it all, showed us where we were losing heat, and helped us improve from D2 to B1.”
— S. O’Reilly, Clare

“Our assessment helped us qualify for the insulation grant and plan the retrofit properly. Delighted with the process start to finish.”
— T. Lennon, Dublin

We do more than just issue a BER

We don’t just give you a number — we give you a plan. Our team explains:

  • What’s dragging your rating down
  • Which upgrades offer the best return
  • How to meet grant requirements for B2 (or better)
  • What to prioritise if your budget is limited

It’s clear, practical, and based on real homes — not just checklists.

How it supports your upgrade

The Home Energy Assessment helps determine your eligibility for:

Insulation first — always

We use your BER to confirm where heat loss is happening. Insulation is nearly always step one — and we specialise in attic, cavity, internal, and external systems that bring the biggest improvements fast.

Quick answers

What is a BER?

A Building Energy Rating (BER) is a measure of your home's energy efficiency — from A1 (best) to G (worst). It's required for SEAI grants and property sales.

How long does an assessment take?

Most assessments take 60–90 minutes. You'll receive your BER and report shortly afterwards.

Do I need one before applying for SEAI grants?

Yes — a BER is required before and after major energy upgrades. We help with both.

What does the assessment include?

Insulation review, heating system check, ventilation status, and grant-focused recommendations.

Will you explain the BER results?

Yes — we’ll break it down and show you exactly what’s dragging your rating down and how to fix it.
