Solar PV grants guide

We design & install — you apply directly

SEAI supports domestic solar PV when it’s specified and commissioned to current standards. We survey your site, model realistic yield and recommend the best placement — pitched roof, flat roof on ballast frames, garage/shed or a compliant ground-mount. You submit the application; we supply the survey data, system design, photos and post-works BER for your claim.

What’s typically funded

  • PV modules & mounting — roof or ground-mount frames engineered for wind loads.
  • Inverter & protection — AC/DC isolation, earthing, surge protection; ESB Networks NC6 notification.
  • Commissioning & BER — testing, sign-off and post-works BER to complete your claim.

Grant values and rules change — we’ll confirm the latest SEAI figures during your survey.

  • Placement that pays

Roof, flat roof or ground-mount — we position modules where they deliver the best year-round output.

  • Neat & compliant

Discreet cable routes, correct isolators & earthing, clean finish and full commissioning tests.

  • Grant-ready pack

Survey data, system design, photos and post-works BER to support your SEAI claim.

Why add solar now?

Lower bills, higher BER

  • Generate your own daytime electricity and reduce imports
  • Improve your BER and future-proof the home
  • Pair with insulation and Air to Water heat pumps for maximum impact

What you get from us

  • Survey, shade scan, layout & yield model

Ready to plan your solar upgrade?

We’ll design the right system — roof or ground-mount — and supply everything you need to secure the grant.

Quick answers

Roof only?

No — SEAI supports compliant roof and ground-mount systems. We’ll confirm which delivers the best yield on survey.

Do you apply for me?

No — you apply directly via SEAI. We supply the survey data, designs, photos and post-works BER for your claim.

Is a battery required?

No. Batteries are optional. Many homes start without one and add storage later if usage justifies it.

Planning needed?

Most rooftop systems are exempt. Ground-mounts are usually exempt within size/setback limits — we’ll advise if any consent is needed.

Post-works BER?

Yes. A post-works BER is required to complete the grant; we arrange it after commissioning.

Export payments?

Surplus electricity is paid under your supplier’s Clean Export Guarantee. We’ll help you get set up.
